Recognizing how empowering weaving is for the women in her own community of Phonsay Village, Laos, Mrs. Chandee is devoted to preserving the craft for generations to come. She values the stability weaving provides her family and its robust network of artisans.
Mrs. Chandee believes tourists would find Laos enriching, inviting them to come explore the country’s unique lifestyle and textiles. She hopes Lao’s products will soon emerge in the European Union market and continue to be celebrated around the world.
Mrs. Chandee is part of a weaver collective that creates economic opportunities for rurally located artisans in 13 Laos provinces. By working with weavers to develop handicrafts that combine craftsmanship and tradition with artistic creativity and design, the collective helps create thriving village enterprises. 10% of each purchase made through Local Bazaar for a product of Mrs. Chandee’s will contribute to the support of healthier and more sustainable communities through environmental, educational and health care-related improvements.
